Group Study Room Survey

In Walsh library, we have 27 Group Study Rooms spread out between the 3rd & 4th floors.

Group Study Room keys can be checked out by a group of students and must be returned by the end of the day (when the library closes). There is an 8-hour daily limit imposed on groups using study rooms during finals (when the library is open 24 hours) in both Fall and Spring semesters. Our complete group study room policy is here.

Due to heavy demand this semester, all group study rooms are claimed and in use by noon each weekday.

We would like to make more group study rooms available to more students, and are seeking student feedback with a brief survey.

Currently enrolled SHU students may take part in this survey by going here: http://shu.libsurveys.com/Study-Room-Survey

Thanks to all who participate!

New database: Passport–Euromonitor International’s global market research database!

euromonitorSeton Hall University Libraries have recently acquired a license for Passport, Euromonitor International’s global market research database.  Passport provides strategic analysis of industries, countries, and consumers and companies. It offers integrated access to internationally comparable statistics, full-text market reports and real time news analysis from industry and country experts.

Passport allows students to:

  • Use Passport’s global, regional and national statistics to measure market performance, recognize category growth potential, assess new country markets and identify new consumer segments
  • Understand the competitive landscape, evaluate competitor strategies, review issues driving change and consider future outlook scenarios
  • Recognize the impact and implications of events making the news

With Passport, students are able to put classroom theory into practice and create reports with real-world relevance for projects such as:

  • Scenario planning
  • Risk assessment
  • Market entry studies
  • Product and brand strategy
  • Competitor intelligence
  • Industry benchmarking
  • Route to market strategy
  • Marketing and advertising strategy
  • Export strategy
  • Consumer segmentation and customer profiles
  • Consumer insight
  • SWOT analysis
  • Mergers & acquisitions evaluation
  • Investment due diligence
  • Forecasting

You can find out about this database, as well as other business and economics databases, by visiting out Business & Economics Research Guide.

Updated Maps For The 3rd and 4th Floor

If you’ve been up to the library’s 3rd and 4th floor recently, you may have noticed things are looking a little different!

Over the summer and continuing through the Fall Semester, library students, staff, and faculty have been busy shifting books around, and freeing up more space. This will allow room for future growth of the library’s collections.

As a result, you will see some open shelves on the 4th floor–we plan to move books into these areas as we continue to shift books for the rest of this semester.

Some call number ranges that were on the 4th floor, have moved down to the 3rd floor. The 3rd floor now houses call numbers PN 4181 – Z, and the 4th floor houses call numbers A – PN 4162.

We have updated our 3rd floor map to reflect these changes, here.

Unfortunately, keeping our 4th floor map updated with correct call number and locations is nearly impossible until the shifting is complete. If you need help finding any book, ask at our Circulation or Reference desks, on the 2nd floor.

We apologize for this disruption, but once this project is completed, you’ll find we have a much more user-friendly and easy-to-navigate book collection, for everyone.

We’ll keep sending out updates, and in the meantime you can contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns.
