all about the lashes

all about the lashes

Now for one of my favorite parts of my beauty routine, LASHES! Lashes are definitely my favorite part because it brings everything together or it can simply be everything. There are many times my makeup routine consists of moisturizer. concealer, powder, and mascara. That’s all

The Balm

Since summer is approaching, let’s talk about something that should be an important step in not only someones makeup routine but also their normal daily routine. It does not matter which chapstick you prefer as long as you use it. Personally I have just discovered

Formal Weekend

Formal Weekend

This past weekend was formal for my sorority, quite a stressful day. I had to do my own makeup along with the eyes of 3 of my friends. For each of my friends I tried to match the eye look I was doing to their dresses. I have photos of two of the friends, Emma and Mackenzie. Overall at the end of the night it couldn’t have gone better and the makeup survived which is a plus.

For Emma, since she was wearing a black romper with red and pink flowers all over it, I went with a pink eye look. I feel like pink/red eye looks can easily be hit or miss situations, at least when I do them. I feel as though there is a fine line between looking gorgeous and looking like you have pink eye. Luckily for her I think it turned out beautiful. I first laid down and neutral brown shade for the transition and then used a pinky red one for the crease. I then laid a shimmery pink silver shade all over the lid with a lid brush dampened with Mac Fix Plus. (Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Palette and Ciaté London Chloe Morello Palette)

As for Mackenzie, she was wearing a nude strapless dress with gold sequins. I went for a neutral eye look since that is what she was looking for in her makeup. I stayed with browns and golds mostly with a few other added colors. I started again with a light brown transition shade in the crease then I began to darken the crease with a slightly darker brown/gray shade. I added shimmer as well with the dampened brush, except this time adding a neutral shimmer to the inner part of the lid and a gold shimmer to the outer part of the lid. (Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Palette and Ciaté London Chloe Morello Palette)

Mermaid Vibes

Mermaid Vibes

Over the weekend I attended the birthday party of the most precious little girl. It was her first birthday party and it was mermaid themed. Since I do not own a mermaid tail and seashell bra, I resorted to makeup to bring in the mermaid

Dusty Purple

Dusty Purple

I just did a quick makeup look using shades of brown and purple from my Morphe Jaclyn Hill palette and my Morphe 35N palette, I hope you enjoy! Let me know if you recreate this look in the comments!

Wings, wings, wings

Wings, wings, wings

Okay so let me tell you about the hardest part of my makeup routine, eyeliner. It is by far the most stressful part of many people’s makeup routines and if it’s not than I need to learn your witchcraft. Usually if I decide to do eyeliner I like to stick to a very minimal eyeshadow look because I am not skilled enough to make both look presentable. If I do a more intense look for eyeshadow (meaning stretching from my usual browns to a splash of maroon maybe if I am feeling crazy) I like to stick to no eyeliner. I usually switch between three that seem to work for me and they are the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Super Slim liquid eyeliner, Absolute New York nano liner, and the Essence long lasting liner. Now if you do decide to take the chance of ruining all your makeup you worked so hard on by attempting eyeliner you’re gonna want to be prepared. I like to do this by packing lots of snacks and makeup wipes because let’s be honest, this could be a while. This process could literally take me an eternity but a tip to make it easier is definitely tape. This is easiest done if you do your eye makeup before your face cause you don’t want to rip off all your foundation. All you do is like a piece of tape where you want the wing of your eyeliner to be and BAM you have at least one straight line in your eyeliner even if the rest is wonky. This trick is also very useful for eyeshadow! Well if you attempt eyeliner just remember that they are usually never twins, and if you’re like me than usually not sisters either.

Let me know if you have any tips or tricks you like to use, or products you love!

first things first

first things first

Well let’s talk about the first step of makeup, which is before the makeup. You must have your hair out of your face, this is a very helpful step especially for non professionals (aka me). It gets your hair out of your face right up

I would say, in my totally unprofessional opinion, the prepping your face for the makeup is the most important step. You need something to protect your pores before throwing 20 lbs of makeup onto it. There are a couple different ways you can do this.
