A Summer Opportunity for Budding Entrepreneurs: Pirates Launch Pad Accelerator Program

Calling all entrepreneurs! This is your chance to win up to $1,500 in seed funding for your business idea. Come and show off your entrepreneurial spirit at the 2021 Pirates Launch Pad Accelerator Program hosted by the Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

This is a great opportunity for you if you have a business startup idea that you are serious about pursuing and turning into a real business. Perhaps, you have already launched a startup venture and are seeking assistance to propel your business to the next level. Maybe, you are determined to solve a social or community problem and are working on an innovative startup business solution.

Pirates Launch Pad Overview: This venture accelerator program employs lean startup methodology to help Seton Hall University student entrepreneurs make progress on their startup during an eight-week summer program. Students will meet weekly for virtual group meetings on Friday mornings (except July 2). In addition, individualized virtual coaching sessions with successful alumni entrepreneurs will be included. There is no cost for students to attend. However, space is limited. So, students should apply as soon as possible.

Who is Eligible: The program is open to Seton Hall students who are already working on a startup business plan or have already launched a startup. These individuals must be willing to set business goals and work to meet them during the program. Students may participate in teams or as solopreneurs. The summer accelerator is free, but space is limited. Teams that successfully complete the program will be eligible for seed funding stipends of up to $1,500.

When: The program runs during 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM from Friday, June 4, 2020 to Friday July 30, 2020 (Except July 2.)

How to Apply: Six to eight student startup teams will be accepted into the 2021 program.

The application process includes:
1) Submitting an Executive Summary of your proposed startup idea or operating venture.
2) A video interview with the Director of the Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Deadline to Express Interest: Students must contact Susan Scherreik, Founding Director, Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, no later than May 17, 2021 at scherrsu@shu.edu.

Student teams participating in the venture accelerator will receive:
• A seed funding stipend of up to $1,500 upon successful completion of Pirates Launch Pad Program.
• Ongoing advising with venture mentors.
• Access to skills building entrepreneurship workshops, prototyping tools, and other useful resources.
• Access to the Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s network of successful alumni entrepreneurs.

Participants will be mentored by Seton Hall’s alumni entrepreneurs to prepare them for success. The Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is here to help! The Center offers students individualized coaching and mentoring sessions as well as feedback on their business ideas. We can also help you to launch your start-up.
