Keep Your Guacamole Green By Putting The Pit in It

Growing up, my best friend’s name was Taylor. He and his family moved across my street from San Antonio, Texas when I was 10 and we became quick friends. I was always over at his house hanging out with his family, his dogs, and most importantly… eating delicious Tex-Mex food. Both of his parents were incredible cooks, but the best cook in the family was most definitely his grandmother. Because they knew that I was very much into food culture, they would always give me tips about the food they would cook. Her best tip was telling me how to make sure guacamole stays green even when it has been sitting out for a while.  She told me that in order to make sure your guacamole stays green, you should put the avocado pit into it. There are enzymes in the pit’s skin that allows the color of the guacamole to remain bright and green!

The picture featured is Taylor and his dad on the FIRST day they moved to the neighborhood.. we’ve definitely both grown immensely since this picture was taken.
