The Golden State Warriors Rebuild Following James Wiseman Injury

Following Sunday’s game, the Warriors are going to be looking elsewhere for a Center for the time being. James Wiseman played for six minutes before suffering a knee injury after attempting a dunk that caused immediate and visible pain. After doctors checked out the athlete, it was ruled a meniscus tear that could be season ending. As the season must go on, we could be seeing more Kevon Looney or even another rookie player in the mix.

Steve Kerr, the Golden State Warriors head coach, spoke out about the injury saying that “we are heartbroken James got injured so quickly during the game. However, we must go on with the season and are currently in the final stages of deciding who will take James’ place on the Warriors. More information will be released in the coming days.”

There are no players being offered full contracts at the time but the Warriors have been toying with the idea of 10-day contracts to experiment in practice or possibly game time with some talent in the league to step in for this role and give Looney some relief.

James Wiseman was second overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft and played center position for the team. He made his debut with 19 points, six rebounds, and two steals against the Brooklyn Nets. Overall for the 2020-21 season, Wiseman averages 11.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg and 21.4 mpg. With Wiseman injured, the Warriors are going to really be leaning on someone to fulfill these gaps.
