DULCE Meeting 9/23/16

Following a round of introductions for both new members and returning members, Dean Bartoli welcomed the group by announcing that his contract as dean has been renewed for another three years, and reaffirmed his intention to have leadership within the School of Diplomacy be accessible for everyone and to foster a sense of ownership so that faculty, students, and administration are equally invested.

After the Dean’s welcome, representatives of diplomacy-related clubs and organizations, including the Arabic Speaking Club, UNA-SHU, UDSA, and the Women of Diplomacy Leadership Program, announced upcoming events and any changes in executive boards.

Finishing off the meeting, Dean Halpin discussed the culture of student entrepreneurship in the School of Diplomacy that has led to the Diplomatic Envoy, the Journal of Diplomacy, the Global Current radio program, along with other initiatives in the school. DULCE, as a forum of student leadership and inter-school communication, is a way of institutionalizing that culture of entrepreneurship and student collaboration. The “coaching culture” that Dean Sanjamino and Dr. Younger are establishing within the school is a way of leading students into greater leadership roles.
