Welcome to a new semester!

Hello all,

As the new semester gets underway, here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. New students should be registered for your classes. Rooms will be posted on Lucy’s door in Jubilee Hall, room 309. Don’t purchase books until after the first night of your classes.

2. Students out on practicum and internship should have their contracts signed by both parties (district and SHU). If your contract is not signed you cannot go to the school district. Check in with me if there is a problem with your contract. Practicum students should start on September 2nd. Internship students may start on August 25th.

3. Our 2 SPLASH meetings this semester will be held on Monday evenings, October 6th and December 8th . Please make sure you mark these two evenings off on your calendar. Attendance is mandatory. If you cannot attend a meeting you must see me. You will have a journal article to summarize in place of attending the meeting. Please bring 5 dollars with you for dues. Meetings will be held in Jubilee Hall, room 383. We start at 6:00 PM and go until about 7:30 PM. Dinner is provided! Come with your appetite!!!

4. We will be having several workshops this semester and in the spring semester. Save the date for Wednesday evening, October 29th (6-8 PM). A friend and colleague of mine, Dr. Leslie Becker, will be presenting on “Building Secure Attachment: Integrating Self-compassion, self-awareness, and mindfulness.” This workshop will focus on counseling theory and skill building for counselors and psychologists.

Have a great start to the semester!
