i. The Senate approves the MS in Physics presuming that resources will be committed towards a tenure-track hire and graduate teaching assistant lines, as per the Department’s request, prior to student enrollment in the program.

ii. FIRST READING of new Article 3.12 on Emeritus Faculty:

3.12      Emeritus faculty

a. All full-time faculty members with at least twenty years of service at the University, or combined with previous full-time service at another university, shall, on their retirement automatically become emeritus faculty on relinquishing tenure or long-term contracts and shall continue to retain that rank so long as they remain in good standing with the University.

b. Eligible faculty members in a phased retirement agreement relinquish tenure at the outset of that agreement and become emeritus faculty.

c. Emeritus status may be awarded to a retiring faculty member with fewer than twenty years of service, by the Provost on the recommendation of the faculty member’s department and dean.

d. All such emeritus faculty, regardless of their previous academic rank, shall be entitled “professor emeritus/a”.

e. Emeritus faculty enjoy the privileges enumerated in the Emeritus Faculty Policy as agreed to by the Senate and the Provost.

iii. Interpretation of Faculty Guide re: Article 4.5.d and teaching at universities other than Seton Hall counting toward full professor
