ii. Motion: Second reading of the proposed changes to Faculty Guide (Article 7.3.a.5 [Instructional Duties; Teaching Load]). Article 7.3.a.5 to be amended in the following way: expand the table to address all clinical teaching assignments in the undergraduate nursing program; specifically, insert 9 contact hours to earn 6 credits hours (highlighted in table below).

Currently, Article 3.3.a.5 reads:

In the College of Nursing full-time faculty conducting clinical courses shall receive credit hours of teaching load based on contact hours in the particular clinic according to the following schedule

ii. Rationale for the addition: The current allocation of contact hours to credit hours in the Faculty Guide does not address all clinical assignments in the undergraduate nursing program.

Faculty teaching in the Synthesis course (NUTC 4019)  are responsible for 9 hours of clinical instruction a week (the students earn 3 credits for the course (9 hours of clinical instruction). Currently, faculty are awarded 5 credits hours for the time they are engaged in clinical instruction. They are not compensated for the entire time they are engaged in clinical instruction. Amending the Faculty Guide will resolve the current inequity.
