Info Sessions More Compelling For Seton Hall University

Jim Info Session

As I sat in the education leadership info session as I do nearly twice a month every month, I noticed a familiar fidget of a young lady sitting across from me.  After the session, I approached her.  She led off by saying that when she initially decided to attend the session, she had been certain she would not join the program.

I recalled this conversation with Tanya as we sat in my office.  She told me that she had come to the info session with the intention of simply finding out some current statics for employments and believing that it would not be the right path for her.  Little did she know that she would leave as a member of a cohort group that would issue her an Ed.S. degree in fewer than 2 years at a university that was practically in her backyard.  She eagerly mentioned that due to the affordability of the program and her new job offer as a vice principal, she would be able to pay off her federal loan in a much shorter time than she would have on her teacher’s salary.

The Seton Hall program has grown to encompass several satellite campuses around New Jersey and now hosts cohorts in community colleges in Bergen, Sussex, Camden, and Warren.  For $25,000 one can attain a degree in education leadership from a prestigious university here in New Jersey.

Tanya went on to tell me that she plans to roll her credits in the doctorate in education leadership.  The Ed.S. degree gave her a lead into the doctoral program at just the right price with quality professors and practitioners whom offer expertise and substance to make leadership relevant and meaningful.  Unexpectedly, she had been hooked from the moment she heard the passion and honest conveyance of information from Dr. James Corino, a true educator and the Director of the M.A./Ed.S. degree programs at Seton Hall University.

Come learn, come listen, come prepares to join the SHU family.  The blended program of online and in-seat instruction is unbeatable.

Spotlight on Dr. James Corino

Walking into James Corino’s office one finds a unique individual who is truly an educator at heart. His walls are decorated with information regarding the many cohorts being administered by Dr. Corino in the field of Education Leadership.

True to his character everything is in its place labeled, clipped and banded.  One can see the organizational skills which “Jim” abides by.  Staying for a few moments we hear the phone ring numerous times while hundreds of emails flood his computer.

Jim Corino’s patience and diligence allow him to take all the time needed to respond to inquiries, requests and issues that arise for and from current, graduated and prospective students.

Dr. Corino is a fabulous administrator, recruiter and teacher.  He has a long and star studded career in K-12 education. He has served as teacher, principal and deputy superintendent. He has coached basketball and football on the high school level to state championships. He is indeed the consummate educator. He can be found working 24/7 or 36/7 if it existed, recruiting and mentoring educational leaders for the 21st century in his position at Seton Hall University.

His knowledge and skill sets are complemented by his honesty, integrity and compassion for all human beings but especially for the students who enter his programs.
