This year the latest and most popular technological event to impact higher education is the introduction of massive open online courses (MOOCs).  MOOCs are a growing new story.  MOOCs were rumored to be a major disruption in higher education as more students choose to take courses online merely to enhance career possibilities, to prepare for college or for the sake of learning.  However, online courses with enrollments of hundreds of students do not provide the personal attention that some students require.

Seton Hall University prides itself on personal attention to all students.  Our student to teacher ratio of 12:1 is small and personable.  So, students are never left to fend for information on their own.  Professors are easily accessed on the telephone or by email.

A Seton Hall degree in education leadership will position students for jobs in all areas of administration. One online graduate commented,

“Since my graduation, I have obtained employment in a school district as an Assistant Superintendent.  This appointment was attainable due to the education I received through the ELMP program.  The curricula, and its presentation by the ELMP instructors, are beyond reproach!  It is my opinion, if an individual would like to advance in the area of Educational Leadership, Seton Hall’s ELMP program will guarantee success!!” Cherie Ludy-MAE

All graduates have passed the Praxis examination that is required for building and district level certifications.  This is a testament to the level of training that is acquired at this university.

Online courses allow students to navigate around their life situations.  Particularly, coaching responsibilities and family situations may impede driving to campus one or two nights per week.  There is also the issue of distance, which is readily solved in an online environment.

Seton Hall graduates have picked this university to seek their certifications and to learn about how to manage and lead schools because of the value offered, convenience of delivery, and competitive program cost.  In an era when the landscape of higher education seems threatened by open free online courses, Seton Hall still offers a quality education experience that rivals the mass delivery environment.
