Contemplative Practices Affinity Group

Sept. 22, 2:00 – 3:30pm

Location: Jubilee Hall 132 conference room

An open discussion group focused on contemplative practices.

“Until we are able to love and take care of ourselves, we cannot be of much help to others.” – Thích Nhất Hạnh

Are you interested in meditation or other contemplative practices? Would you like to learn more about these ideas? Would you benefit from an oasis of calm in the midst of your work week? Would you enjoy conversations with colleagues that are positive and life-giving? If you said “yes” to at least some of these questions, consider joining our informal group for mutually supportive sessions that suit your schedule and needs.

This group is open to all; whether you teach, work with students in any capacity (including athletics or student affairs), or perform administrative work, you can find a place in this group.

Our planned activities (virtually or in-person) include simple centering/breathing meditations; discussion of brief, inspiring readings; exchanging our challenges and tips for achieving more peace and harmony in or lives; and more. Weather and schedules permitting, we may also practice meditative walking together on-campus.

– For more information, contact Lisa Rose-WilesKelly Shea, or Ruth Tsuria.

– This group is sponsored by the Center for Faculty Development.
