Creating an Inclusive Syllabus

Tuesday, Feb. 2, 9:00 – 10:00am

Presenter: Dr. Edmund Adjapong, Asst. Prof., Department of Educational Studies

Many scholars believe that academic institutions should be involved in addressing societies’ inequities and be accountable to meet the transformational change that society needs. In this Center for Faculty Development workshop, Dr. Edmund Adjapong will lead participants in a discussion about the necessity of decolonizing course syllabi and the importance of including a wider variety of voices and perspectives, particularly those that have been historically marginalized and silenced in traditional syllabi. Faculty need opportunities to reflect, rethink, and reconstruct course syllabi. Faculty will have a moment to reflect upon their teaching to include a decolonizing framework that supports all students and their racial identities.
