Danielle Andreani had her fourth group mentoring session on March 26th. The first topic that the group talked about with the Executives was summer internships.

The Executives told the group that it was important to learn something from these experiences. You need to ask questions, and treat it like a real job. They said to treat an internship as if you will be there for the next 20 years. Having a good attitude is always a necessity and you need to treat the job with sincerity. Because this is a learning experience, keep your eyes open, you need to learn if the company or field is the right place for you.

When the group talked about sales, they learned that sales is not a dirty word. In fact, you are always selling. You are selling yourself in an interview, and it is important to always be knowledgeable about what you are selling. In sales, you should never stop learning, because every transaction is a valuable experience.

The group then went on to discuss starting a business. The most important thing is what is the advantage over other places. The team referenced their recent trip to Portugal where wine and seafood were the advantages of the location. For the topic of marketing, the team learned that you need to identify what story people will grab onto. Being authentic is important to marketing your start up business.
