Best Landing Spots for 2024 Top Quarterbacks

The 2024 NFL draft is weeks away meaning all football fans are eagerly awaiting to see where the top quarterback prospects go.

This quarterback class is the deepest in years.

It is led by sure first overall pick Caleb Williams. After Williams it is undecided who is the second-best prospect. Some fans will argue Drake Maye due to his intangibles and physical traits. Others will argue Jayden Daniels thanks to his Heisman winning year at LSU. Some fans may even argue JJ McCarthy since all he did was win at Michigan.

Fans are not the only ones intrigued by these prospects. NFL executives make a living off selecting the right quarterback. Picking the best fit could result in years of playoff success, like Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas Chiefs. Contrarily picking the wrong prospect could result in setting a team back years, like Zach Wilson and the New York Jets.

This article will analyze the top prospects and their best team fit.

Caleb Williams USC – Chicago Bears
Williams is by far the best prospect in this draft class. For the past two seasons fans and NFL executives alike have mocked him as the first quarterback taken. This is thanks to Williams’ outstanding arm strength and pocket presence.

The best landing sport for the USC phenomena is the Chicago Bears. This offseason Chicago has been revamping their roster in anticipation of landing Williams. The Bears traded for Chargers Keenan Allen and signed Eagles DeAndre Swift. Notable moves were also made on the defensive side.
Williams will be a great fit in the windy city thanks to his traits and recent Chicago offseason moves.

Drake Maye UNC – New York Giants
This is a hot take, but Maye would be a perfect fit in New York. The Giants need a new franchise quarterback and Maye could be that answer. Maye is a raw talent so he can sit behind Daniel Jones for a year while he develops. Head Coach Brian Daboll can maximize Maye’s talent like he did for Bills Josh Allen.

The Giants are a sneaky good fit for Maye.

Jayden Daniels LSU – Washington Commanders
Daniels is a dual-threat, Heisman winning quarterback. Sound familiar Commanders fans? An excellent comparison to Daniels is former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III. Daniels showed excellent traits at LSU that were parallel to Griffin.

Daniels similarity to the former Commander is not the only reason he’s a perfect fit. His playing style fits newly hired offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury perfectly.

Washington has a chance to right the wrong of failing Griffin by winning with Daniels.

JJ McCarthy MICH – Minnesota Vikings

Each season one quarterback shoots up mock drafts and team boards. This year McCarthy is that quarterback.

While some fans are calling him overrated, McCarthy’s skyrocketing stock is justified. At Michigan he exemplified winning and showcased his strong arm.

The biggest knock of McCarthy’s game is his limited sampling size. Michigan was a run-dominate team, so they did not rely on McCarthy’s arm that often to win games.

Thanks to a talented receiving core, a solid offensive line, and a good backfield; the Vikings do not need to rely on his arm to win games. Minnesota can also elect to develop the Michigan prospect behind quarterback Sam Darold.
