- Goals and ambitions require everyone to come together
- Friday, March 24 – Board of Overseers meeting
- Faculty, administration, alumni, students
- Diplomacy assembly to speak about issues for the school
- Time of transition for the University
- President leaves in June, board of regents will appoint an interim president
- What is the Diplomacy School’s role in the transition?
- Where do we want to go as a school?
- How do we contribute to the university as a whole?
- Three goals
- 1) Want to become a full member of APSIA
- APSIA = Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs, which provides membership for schools with graduate programs in IA, not an accrediting body
- Benefits of ASPIA
- Attract more students
- Reputation stamp
- An elite club of schools, well known to potential employers who will look to ASPIA school for employees in the field – help students in the job market
- Students have access to APSIA career fairs in NYC, DC, abroad
- Exclusive job board
- 2) Want to discuss and improve the mission statement
- 3) Want more space
- Grow beyond the first floor of McQuaid
- Create a student lounge
- Want space for the three centers
- Transition period for all diplomacy organizations
- Create a sense of progression and regularity
- Try to create calendar of events and meetings two years in advance
- 1) Want to become a full member of APSIA
