When it rains, it pours. The No. 3 Indiana Hoosiers came back striking against the No. 6 Seton Hall Pirates after their mid-game weather delay Monday night during the NCAA menโs soccer quarterfinal matchup. ย The Hoosiers rained on the parades of the historic Pirate squad, who fell 2-0, ending their season. The same matchup with the same result occurred in 1988, the last time the Hall made it to the Elite Eight. In just his third season with the program, Coach Andreas Lindberg led the Hall back into the national spotlight this season, bringing the Big East Championship title back to South Orange for the first time since 1991 and the teamโs first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2005. Fans, the teams and the media alike, took to Twitter during the intense match:

Seton Hallโs controlled this game for nearly the whole way, but this is soccer. When Indianaโs gotten a counter, the Hoosiers have made the most of two opportunities. SHU up 12-3 in shots, and has really gotten close to coming through. IU retains a 2-0 lead with 14 minutes left.

A really classy move by Seton Hall senior goalkeeper Andreas Nota after the game. He came over and thanked the Pirates leadership that flew down to North Carolina – University President Joe Nyre, Executive VP Pat Lyons, AD Bryan Felt. Nota will live in SHU soccer glory forever. pic.twitter.com/MNEVmLyTgj
