September 2016: Tips for the New Semester

Dr. Robert Kelchen says….

  • Try to plan out your work in advance for the semester, and think about what parts of it take your complete concentration and a fresh mind and what parts can be done when your brain is operating at less than full speed.
  • Find the time of day that you do your best work and do your toughest work then and save the easier work for when you would otherwise be struggling to make progress.

The Students say….

  • Make sure to talk to your peers about course options. Try to balance out your course choices so that you don’t take too many reading-heavy courses at once.
  • Communicate with your professors, even just a casual conversation after class. You never know when they’ll need a research assistant, or when you’ll need a recommendation.
