September 2015: A Message From the Director

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

I hope you all had an enjoyable summer and are ready for the fall semester! On behalf of the faculty, I would like to first extend a very hearty welcome back to all of the new and returning students in the Graduate Programs of Higher Education. Second, we bid farewell to Ms. Jill Dippman, who served as our department secretary until her retirement in August, and Dr. Kristen Koehler, who supervised internship courses and has recently moved to another academic position. We welcome our new secretary, Ms. Ann Rodrigues, and  new internship coordinator Dr. Susan Arrigoni.

The goal of our program is to provide quality education that allows you to pursue your passion in higher education while developing outstanding academic, research, and leadership skills. To achieve this goal, we have outstanding faculty, whose varied interests allow students to be well trained in several areas of higher education, including academic administration, student affairs, program evaluation, faculty development, international education, educational policy, finance, and more. We boast several nationally- and internationally-known researchers and academic leaders in our faculty and outstanding students and alumni from various fields. We continue developing new tracks, courses, and internship opportunities that will enrich the choices for all students.

As the fall semester begins, we welcome all HRED students to drop us a note or stop by for a visit. Come meet our new colleagues, or get reacquainted with those of us who have been around. Wish you all a very productive and successful 2015-16 academic year!

-Dr. Rong Chen
