Nov. 18, 5:00pm – 6:00pm

Book banning has become an increasingly pervasive problem in this country, impacting library holdings and school curricula, and affecting younger readers in particular. In this CFD session, Brendan Kiely author (All American Boys, Sole Survivor, Tradition) and English department professor will engage in a discussion with Ashley Hope Perez, literary scholar, novelist (Out of Darkness, What Can’t Wait), youth advocate, and educator, and the editor of the best-selling anthology Banned Together, and Samira Ahmed, the bestselling author (Love, Hate & Other Filters, Internment, Mad, Bad & Dangerous to Know, Hollow Fires) in a lively discussion of this issue: the current state of affairs, as well as what readers and writers can and are doing to fight back.

Light refreshments will be served.
