Feb. 17, 12:30 – 1:30
The complex history of the Civil Rights Movement continues to unfold as scholars work to bring to light stories and figures that remain largely unknown. Faculty from a variety of disciplines–Dr. Vanessa May (History), Dr. Larry Greene (History), Dr. Kelly Harris (Africana Studies), Dr. Matthew Pressman (Communication and the Arts), and Dr. Forrest Pritchett (Senior Adviser to the Provost for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion)–will talk about what is missing from traditional narratives of the movement. They will also discuss how these knowledge gaps continue to impact contemporary efforts to implement change. Finally, they will share resources that can be used for instruction and research.
