Danielle Andreani’s Third Group Mentoring Session of the Academic Year – Group 1, Session 3

Danielle Andreani’s group mentoring session was held in February, a day before Seton Hall’s Career and Internship Fair, where the team discussed loaded topics essential to developing not only a mature business professional, but also a moral philanthropist. There is a natural progression in an individual’s business journey that consists of all of the following elements: getting the job, making a career, and developing as a leader. As practicing leadership is an ongoing process, learning how to master the other components along the way is important in setting the groundwork for what we can do for ourselves, those immediately around us, and the community at large.

Eager to discuss the Career Fair that was approaching within the next 24 hours, the students began inquiring about the basic human reaction to being judged on performance and character: anxiety. Being anxious is not uncommon to executives either, but dealing with this issue is more important than succumbing to its debilitating nature. Being your most authentic self and staying true to that very person is the most powerful weapon you have against your wavering emotional state. As you keep this stature and poise, recruiters will be impressed by your professional behavior, confidence, and intelligence, allowing you to feel more in control of your future. With this feeling of certainty, you can decide to do what you’re passionate about that leads to happiness sooner rather than later.

Leadership is a quality that must be honed and exercised frequently in order to provide the best results based on moral and fair judgment. As students prepare to make the transition into business executives who will impact the world of tomorrow, the executives urged the need for corporate social responsibility or, by definition, “assess[ing] and tak[ing] responsibility for the company’s effects on the environment and impact on social welfare” (Investopedia). Reaching out to the community, involving itself in charity events and the like, are ingrained in a companies culture accentuating optimal moral satisfaction for all who it affects.

Lastly, continuing with leadership, it is essential to lead with your heart as that leads to the most positive results that drive a company and motivate those who work for it. Making sure you have a team of unique individuals displaying diverse opinions and viewpoints is a dynamic tool to work with since that teamwork and cohesion could generate more progress than ever anticipated. As one leads this group, maintaining synergy and respect is essential to success along with making substantial decisions responsibly.

We congratulate Danielle on leading her group mentoring session successfully and discussing important topics prevalent to  all who this information is shared with! We look forward to hearing more insight as the semester goes on!
