Alyson, you make a strong case for the effectiveness of safe consumption sites as a harm reduction tactic in your presentation. I like how you emphasized the good effects on the community as well as the health advantages, such as lowering the risk of overdosing and the transmission of infectious diseases. It’s also essential that you linked these websites to social work principles like empathy and support for underrepresented groups. Your focus on removing stigma is particularly effective in encouraging more sensible and compassionate approaches to substance abuse. I appreciate you sharing your insightful observations.

Hi Alyson!
I really enjoyed this presentation! As someone who has an interest in addiction and substance use services, I am extremely passionate about aiding those battling an addiction in any way possible, even if it means providing them with these safe injection sites. While I can understand why one may hear this and think it is an absurd idea, as you have done in your presentation, I would use that as an opportunity to educate them on the complexity of addiction and address the stigma that surrounds it. You do a great job at capturing the idea of securing the dignity and worth of these individuals, despite their circumstance and drug use, and I strongly agree that this is a dire issue that must be addressed.
