I agree. The lack of implementation of policies requiring green spaces for urban areas is increasingly large. Since we are all interconnected with the earth, being connected to our environment is crucial to our growth and development. Greenery provides a sense of tranquility, calmness, and peace with the price of nothing. This would help those in impoverished areas because of the affordability, community, and peace it would bring to the community.
Your poster was very well done, it is informative and highlights the need for safer spaces in urban areas. This made me think about protecting the green spaces that we do have such as national parks. With the new administration that is something that we need to protect. Connecting it to the code of ethics highlights the importance of social workers working in this area, and demonstrates how social workers can work in any area.
I think that this topic is so interesting, and something that I feel like is often not focused on or talked about. I like how you mentioned so many of the tools that urban/outdoor areas give us, and all of the ways they can teach children different life skills as well as physical skills. Like you said, entertainment is extremely limited to those who do not have access to these green spaces, and I think it is such an important responsibility for social workers to advocate for everyone to have access to these things. Great job!
Your poster really shows how a critical yet often overlooked issue: the lack of green spaces in urban communities and its impact on children’s well-being. The argument that green spaces contribute to safety, mental health, and community strength is compelling and well-supported. One of the most striking points is how the presence of parks and nature can reduce crime and foster a sense of belonging. It’s easy to see how children benefit from having safe outdoor spaces to play, explore, and socialize.
Drawing attention to this topic is so incredibly important and I found your display of information greatly informative on the topics of why this is important and why we should care about the impact of environment on individuals. I also liked how you included a portion of your poster to talk about what exactly Social Workers can do to contribute to this issue and it gives a sense of initiative that this can be achieved through different efforts. Overall informative and addressed a very underappreciated factor in our lives.

Hi Stephanie!
Your presentation was great! As someone who grew up playing a variety of different sports, I completely agree with your concerns regarding the lack of green communities. Sports was something I always looked forward to and it helped me to develop into the person I am today as it taught me many of the characteristics you mentioned. Sports are something I feel children can benefit from for not only for their development, but it keeps them busy and disciplined, as opposed to finding unproductive and often unsafe activities to participate in when they are bored.
