Grace, your presentation on AI misuse, especially deepfakes, that are used for bullying and sexual exploitation among middle and high school students was both appropriate given current AI use and interesting. You were able to effectively emphasize the alarming psychological, emotional, and defamation harm caused by these abuses along with showing the need for extensive policy reform and education on digital literacy. The call you made for school to enforce ethical AI use programs and supply victim support services align with modern concerns about the rapid evolution of AI tools and the misuse of them, which are seen in real-world cases such as the Beverly Vista Middle School’s multiple deepfake situations. Also, I greatly admired how your proposal reflects the social work values of advocacy and social justice because of your suggestion for a proactive structure for the creation of safer educational environments. Your presentation brought major attention to the need for educators, policymakers, and social workers to work together to tackle this issue of AI misuse.
Hi Grace,
I thought that your poster effectively highlights the dangers of AI-generated deepfakes (digitally altered media). I found it important how you spoke in the context of bullying and sexual abuse especially with middle and high school students. I thought that you presented a well-structured argument. I like how you begin with an overview of the issue, defining deepfakes as manipulated media. You explained how they falsely depict individuals and how it’s without their consent. The inclusion of real-life examples from 2023 and 2024 reinforces the severity of the problem. Ultimately, demonstrating how AI-generated content can harm students. The discussion on the psychological impact, specifically distress, social isolation, and shame, further emphasizes the negative impact of the issue. I appreciated how the poster offers clear recommendations. For example, like developing schoolwide policies, amending legislation, and implementing digital literacy programs.
Hi Grace, I think your presentation of the misuses of AI was very insightful and all of the points you made were very important matters. As AI is a very powerful tool that has a lot of benefits to our everyday lives, you do not hear a lot of people bring up the dangers or the bad sides to the power AI has. This was a great representation showing that there are a lot of harmful things that can be done, and especially when talking about how it could happen to younger kids. One part that really stood out to me was when you gave real life examples. I always thought that putting examples helps get your point across even more and be taken more seriously. You connected these harmful issues to social work very nicely and made it interesting so that people would want to learn more about it. Great job!
The dangers of AI are a huge concern for our younger population. The lack of privacy and non-consensual images created are signs of disrespect to one’s autonomy and confidentiality as a human being. There should be an ethical responsibility when using AI, and our young children should be aware of the trauma associated with deepfake technology. Deepfake technology is a form of bullying and sexual exploitation that will only stunt the growth of our newer generation. We must monitor the use of deepfakes and educate our peers on their potential consequences.
Hey Grace,
Your presentation about the danger of bullying and sexual exploitation to middle and high school students linked to AI brought up an important and growing concern. It honestly made me think about how fast technology is growing and how scary it is that students can be targeted in new ways we didn’t have to worry about before. I liked how you explained the connection between AI and these risks, which can open the eyes of many people to have better protections for kids online
I found your poster to be incredibly insightful. I think many people acknowledge that social media is a factor that affects several individuals daily. However, people seem to not acknowledge the use of AI and how it can affect middle and high school students. AI has an emotional impact on how AI can be abusive to its audience. I think your poster explains how AI can be misused to harm the younger generation which can lead to bullying and exploitation. I think your reasoning was supported by using real-life examples that have occurred to make the poster feel real. I honestly feel that you provided solutions to not just identify the single issue, but offer a way to provide help to these students that are impacted by AI.
Grace, your presentation on using artificial intelligence among middle and high school students was enlightening. I was shocked to learn about the significant increase in non-consensual intimate images among minors. This stark reminder of the potential dangers of social media for our younger generation is very concerning. It’s also concerning that school districts aren’t acknowledging their students’ actions. Instead of not recognizing the use of deep fake, teach these children why it’s super harmful and it affects so many people. Bullying has transpired into cyberbullying, and people are hiding behind screens; it is removing the accountability that face-to-face interaction demands. Screen/social media help children hide behind emotions, making it harder to express how they may feel and how to handle their conflict. It also makes it way harder for school administration to detect. But as Grace mentioned, districts can’t just do nothing; they need to implement systems, so children are not harmed. Potentially implementing a parent and child native Schools need to take cyberbullying much more seriously because now everything can surface to interest and stay there for a long time. I loved how you brought up this topic because it makes me think about how young kids use social media to exploit themselves and potentially others. I also wonder if deepfakes are surfacing around college campuses and affecting individuals.
I never thought of AI in this context. It is critical that we teach young children about the potential hazards that AI causes and how they can be at risk. Cyber bullying has been an important topic over the past decade or so but never have we seen the ability to create explicit AI images without one’s consent. There must be legislation places to protect kids against the threat of AI and we must make an effort as a society to protect against harmful use of AI. You did a phenomenal job explaining the situation and I learned a lot about this topic that I otherwise would not have thought of. Great work Grace!
