Seton Hall University’s Stillman School of Business proudly announces that its Master of Science in Accounting program has earned an endorsement from the Institute of Management Accountants, one of the largest and most respected global institutions.
With over 140,000 members in 150 countries, the IMA sets a standard for educational programs, and its endorsement is a sign of merit. This recognition places Seton Hall among a select group of institutions that meet high academic standards and support students in earning the Certified Management Accountant credential.
“Being endorsed by IMA is a significant achievement that will better equip our students for successful careers in management accounting,” said Joyce Strawser, Ph.D., dean of the Stillman School of Business. “This recognition speaks to the strength of our curriculum and the value it brings to students and the organizations they will serve.”
Seton Hall’s 30-credit program is tailored for students without an undergraduate accounting degree who seek careers in financial analysis, auditing, or tax. It prepares students to sit for the CPA exam in New Jersey, New York, and most other states, while now also aligning with the CMA credential.
“The IMA endorsement brings a new dimension to Seton Hall’s accounting program, especially for those stepping into the field for the first time,” said Danielle DiMeglio, M.B.A., director of graduate accounting programs. “It opens doors to management accounting careers in areas like financial planning and strategic decision-making.”
Classes are offered both on campus in South Orange and online. Students may attend full-time or part-time, completing the program in as little as one year or within two years.
To receive the IMA endorsement, programs must align closely with CMA exam content, have sufficient faculty resources, maintain recognized accreditation, and designate a faculty member as an IMA campus advocate. The Stillman School not only meets these criteria but also holds dual AACSB accreditation—an honor achieved by only five percent of business schools worldwide.
“With this new endorsement, our graduates are well-positioned to pursue both CPA and CMA certifications, giving them more flexibility and a competitive edge in the accounting profession,” said Mark P. Holtzman, Ph.D., CPA, chair of the Department of Accounting and Taxation.
