Although the transition from high school to college can be challenging. There are many habits that you can start once you step on campus here at Seton Hall University to assist with those challenges. To help you navigate this new chapter and set yourself up for success, here are some essential tips for business first-year students.
1. Master Time Management
Self-discipline is a key essential to mastering time management. Seton Hall will challenge you as a student with coursework, group projects, internship opportunities, and networking events. It is vital to be organized and prepared, my best suggestion is to utilize a planner or digital calendar. It will allow you to keep track of deadlines and commitments. Prioritize tasks by importance and due date, and create a routine that allocates time for study, work, and relaxation.
2. Build Strong Study Habits
Business courses will challenge your ability to problem-solve and think in an efficient manner. Develop study habits that work for you personally and stick to those habits. Seek an environment that suits your style, break up your study session into intervals, and take time to give your brain a rest. With time and trial, you will be able to recognize which environments and habits work best for you.
3. Engage with Professors and Peers
Don’t hesitate to attend office hours or seek your professor’s advice on academic and career matters. Building relationships with professors can lead to great opportunities and advancements in your academic career. Similarly, actively participate in class discussions and group projects to build connections with peers. Networking with both your professors and classmates can lead to collaborative study sessions, future professional opportunities, and a more memorable experience here at Seton Hall.
4. Get Involved on Campus
Look to get involved on campus, whether that is with a business-related club or another organization. College and University is about expanding your horizon and gaining experiences with a diverse group of people. There are many great opportunities to join clubs and organizations here at Seton Hall University. Whether it is a business-related club, a sports club, a social club, etc. There are many different choices for all students of divergent backgrounds and interests to network themselves.
