Welcome to the 2026 Sister Rose Thering Fund Literary, Digital & Visual Arts Competition for Middle School & High School Students!
Since 1993, the Sister Rose Thering Fund has funded scholarships for teachers in public, private and parochial schools to become more informed about Jewish-Christian relations and the Holocaust and other forms of genocide, so they can give their students the tools to combat antisemitism and other bigotry. At no time has this task been important as the present.

One way the Fund does this is by offering students an opportunity to participate in this competition—now in its 15th year of existence! Two years ago, we added a Video category; last year, we expanded the student range to include grades 7 and 8; this year, we have added a visual arts component as a third way to participate.
Please familiarize yourself with the information we provide here and share it with your students as we would be very happy to consider their submissions. Please encourage them to participate.
Prizes are awarded to First Place and Honorable Mention winners in each category and each grade. This year, the deadline for submissions is Friday, February 6, 2026. Winners will be announced on March 13, 2026, and will be recognized at the Celebration of Education Celebration at Seton Hall University on Sunday, April 19, 2026. The families and teachers of winners are strongly encouraged to attend this wonderful event.
