STAYING CURRENT WITH HRED ASSOCIATIONS & ORGANIZATIONS
Last month, we shared two daily email digests that contain relevant research, policy, and practical issues facing higher education. This month, we’re highlighting select higher education-oriented professional associations/organizations that provide additional resources. Many of these associations/organizations accept graduate student members at discounted rates and provide publications and resources.
- American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) – seeks to provide professional development, guidelines, and standards for higher education officials in records management, enrollment management, administrative information technology, and student services.
- American Association of University Professors (AAUP) – seeks to advance academic freedom and shared governance; to define professional values and standards for higher education; and to promote the economic security of faculty, academic professionals, graduate students, post-docs, and those engaged in teaching and research in higher education.
- American College Personnel Association (ACPA) – seeks to advance student affairs and engage students for learning and discovery.
- American Educational Research Association (AERA) – seeks to advance knowledge about education, to encourage scholarly inquiry related to education, and to promote the use of research to improve education and serve the public good.
- Association for Institutional Research (AIR) – seeks to provide educational resources, best practices, and professional development opportunities for institutional researchers.
- Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) – a scholarly society dedicated to higher education as a field of study.
- Higher Education Research Institute at UCLA (HERI) – seeks to inform educational policy and promote institutional improvement through an increased understanding of higher education and its impact on college students.
- National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition – serves as the trusted expert, leader, and clearinghouse for scholarship, policy, and best practices for all postsecondary student transitions.
