Our Team

Meet our team! Since the start of our publication in 2018, “The Heart of the Hall” has been blessed with a team of student writers and editors from all grades. Here is a bit of information about our current staff:

Editor-in-Chief of Content: Emma Newgarden is a Junior Classical Studies major from Staten Island, NY.  On campus, she is a runner on Seton Hall’s cross-country team. She also writes for the International Youth Coalition blog. In her free time, Emma enjoys reading old novels and coming up with new recipes.

Editor-in-Chief of Layout: Bridgette Favale studies English as a Junior at Seton Hall University. She combines her passions for writing and the Catholic faith as an editor of “The Heart of the Hall” in which she hopes to enrich her understanding of how to create a publication for her future in an English career. Bridgette can often be found playing piano or hiking at times when she is not working on a new edition.

Managing Editor: Sarah Adam is a sophomore in the 4+2 elementary special education and speech pathology program here at Seton Hall. She enjoys getting involved with Campus Ministry events, partaking in service, and spending time with friends and family. Sarah loves the beach and animals. She hopes to work in a school as a speech pathologist and make a difference in the lives of children.

Social Media Chair: Jessica Kelly is a Senior in the elementary and special education program, and double majors with English. She is very excited to begin her journey writing for “The Heart of the Hall” and expanding her faith—an important aspect of Jessica’s daily life. She enjoys spending time volunteering in her church nursery and working with children of her church to help them develop their own personal beliefs.

Copy Editor/Contributing Writer: Ellen Mangan is a Sophomore nursing student from Damascus, MD, who hopes to be a neonatal nurse. She is in the University Honors Program, and enjoys the reading, writing, and discussion the program entails as a break from her science classes. She is involved in a FOCUS-led Bible Study and a SPO Small Group and likes attending Campus Ministry events. She is especially interested in the inherent dignity of man and how that is easily lost and forgotten.

Contributing Writer: Matthew Forget is a Sophomore studying chemistry. He plans on pursuing a career in medicine. Matthew has a great interest in apologetics and hopes to help spread the faith with those he meets during his time at Seton Hall.

Contributing Writer: Thomas Piro is a Catholic theology major and is in his senior year. He is a seminarian studying for the Diocese of Camden, NJ. Thomas enjoys spending his days on the beach and the golf course.

Contributing Writer: Silvia Maresca is a senior studying Elementary and Special Education, aspiring to be a Kindergarten teacher. She enjoys spending time with her friends and large family, crocheting, and being active in the pro-life movement. Because Silvia loves to share her faith with others she is excited to contribute her writing to “The Heart of the Hall.”

Contributing Writer: Nick Cizin is from Hillsborough, New Jersey. He is a senior at Seton Hall University majoring in Accounting and Finance. He is the vice-president of the Seton Hall Orthodox Fellowship club. In his free time, Nicholas enjoys playing golf and deep-sea fishing.

Contributing Writer: James Unciano is a Sophmore student under the 3+2 Athletic Training Program. He is currently having his early internship at Seton Hall Prep where he graduated High School. James is looking forward to become an Athletic Trainer and a future Pediatrician. He enjoys writing poems and uses it as a means to spread his faith. He also loves to play Basketball during his spare time.
