The American Psychological Foundation provides financial support for research and programs designed to enhance the power of psychology to elevate the human condition and advance human potential, now and in generations to come. Since 1953, the foundation has supported research, scholarships, and projects for students and early career psychologists working to make a difference in people’s lives.

Through its John and Polly Sparks Early Career grant program, the foundation will award one $10,000 grant to an early career psychologist to support research in the area of early intervention and treatment for serious emotional disturbance in children. Priority will be given to a project that has the potential to provide a model for broad-based applications across the country.

The grant is meant to encourage early-career psychologists to devote their careers to methods of intervention and treatment for serious emotional disturbance in children. Although APF does not fund institutional indirect costs or overhead costs, recipients may use the grant to cover the direct administrative costs of their proposed project.

DEADLINE: MAY 15, 2014
