The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) provides small research grants to improve the quality, safety, effectiveness and efficiency of healthcare through the implementation and use of health IT. Projects must clearly identify one of three primary research areas to be addressed:

  1. Health IT to improve the quality and safety of medication management – Focuses on the utilization of medication management systems and technologies by providers and patients
  2. Health IT to support patient-centered care – Focuses on the coordination of care across transitions in care settings and the use of electronic exchange of health information to improve quality of care.
  3. Health IT to improve health care decision making –  Focuses on the development, implementation, and integration of health information tools, products or systems through the use of integrated data and knowledge management.

Total costs are limited to $100,000 over a maximum project period of two years. Applications follow the R03 research schedule and are due February 16, June 16 and October 16, 2013. For more information, see the link below:
