The AERA offers up to $20,000 to support a year of dissertation research that uses databases from the National Science Foundation, National Center for Education Statistics and other federal agencies. AERA encourages applications from many disciplines, including education, sociology, economics, psychology, demography, statistics, and psychometrics. Potential topics include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Policies and practices related to student achievement in STEM
  • Contextual factors in education
  • Educational participation and persistence
  • Early childhood education
  • Post-secondary education
