The National Endowment for the Humanities provides funding for the development and distribution of media projects. Projects eligible for support include interactive digital media (like video games, websites or streaming video), film & television or radio. The program is divided into development and production grants.
Development grants support collaboration with scholars to develop projects and prepare programs for production. The process should result in a script or design plan and a detailed outline for public outreach and engagement. Development awards last for six to twelve months and range from $40,000 to $75,000.
Production grants support the production and distribution of humanities projects that engage the public. Awards last from one to three years and range from $100,000 to $800,000. Funding of up to $1 million is available for special, large-scale, multi-format projects that can reach broad sectors of the public.
