The 2014 Love and Forgiveness in Governance essay competition has come to a close. A number of essays were received from students, scholars and practitioners on the topic “Can leaders change the world by promoting love and forgiveness”. The purpose of this essay competition was to collect stories about leaders whose work and promotion of love and forgiveness have contributed to a positive change in their communities, institutions and the world in general.

After a thorough review of all the essays, Peter Cuppernull of George Mason University Fairfax, Virginia, won the first prize for his essay “Living with Conscience: A Magistrate, The Güengüense, and a Family’s Story of Love and Forgiveness”. The second prize was won by Melissa Neelakantan of Seton Hall University, South Orange, New Jersey. Her essay is titled “Dalai Lama and His Teachings.” Additional top eight essays were also selected for publishing. Please join us in congratulating Peter and Melissa.
