Logic, the Limits to Knowledge, and the Catholic Intellectual Tradition: Developing the Course of a Lifetime

(This event is sponsored by the Faculty Retirement Group)

Oct. 29, 1:00pm – 2:30pm

Presenter: Tom Marlowe, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics and Computer Science

This CORE III course is literally a culmination of a life of reading, study, and intellectual pursuits—mathematics, computing, language, and logic, and their history, mixed with philosophy and religion—partly in response to the CORE III mandate, but becoming fascinating for its own sake—and then on to applications in science, history, social science and economics, cybernetics and engineering, and games and puzzles, and finally, circling back to modern interactions of mathematics, computing and science with philosophy.
