April 9, 9:30am – 10:30am
Moderated by: Nicholas H. Snow, Founding Endowed Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry
Panelists: Senior Faculty and Deans from across the university
Who should attend: All faculty seeking to be or on the tenure track
A distinguished panel of senior faculty and administrators will provide tips and tricks to help pre-tenure faculty at all levels navigate the tenure track. We will offer key points of advice for non-tenure track faculty seeking a tenure track position, for untenured faculty seeking tenure, for tenured faculty seeking promotion and for senior faculty looking to make a difference. We will provide a high-level view of the reasons for tenure and structure of the rank and tenure process. We will discuss key points that make for both strong and weak cases for promotion and the role of the faculty evaluation process and how senior faculty and administrators can assist junior colleagues along their career path. Each panelist will provide several of their own key pieces of advice for prospective applicants. The format will be very informal with ample time for questions and discussion.
