Faculty Retirement Group Formed

A new Faculty Retirement Group, under the leadership of Chrys Grieco, Professor Emeritus of English, has been created under the auspices of the SHU Center for Faculty Development. A preliminary group began meeting in the fall, and the first formal meeting of the new organization will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 12:00 – 2:00, in the Faculty Lounge of the University Center. Lunch will be provided.

The purpose of the Faculty Retirement Group is to provide a forum and supportive environment for retired faculty, retiring faculty, and those contemplating retirement in the near future. The group will implement activities and opportunities that would help both retirees and the University, addressing such topics as retiree faculty benefits, investment opportunities, parking tags, lunch time meetings, occasional teaching or adjunct teaching for a semester, and more. The group has been modeled after such groups at other universities in New Jersey. The SHU Faculty Retirement Group hopes to encourage continued contact between faculty and the university to their mutual benefit. Faculty should expect to receive clear, up-to-date information, and the university will gain a loyal group able to contribute in various ways. Future information about the group and its activities will be posted on the Center for Faculty Development web site < http://www.shu.edu/faculty-development/>.

If you are interested in joining the group or you would like more information, contact Chrys Grieco, chair of Faculty Retirement Group <chrysanthy.grieco@shu.edu>.

If you would like to attend the Feb. 14 meeting, rsvp to Mary Balkun mary.balkun@shu.edu and Danielle Pollaro <Danielle.pollaro@shu.edu>.
