Classical Studies

The arrangement described below was instituted in Fall 2019
and remained in place until the end of the 2023/2024 Academic Year.  During Fall 2024, this arrangement is under review.  If you began your undergraduate studies in Fall 2023 or earlier, the arrangement described below is an option for you.  If you began undergraduate studies in Fall 2024 or later, please consult with The Chair of the Dept. of Languages Literatures & Cultures to ensure you are managing your course-planning in a way that will allow you to achieve your goals within the time frame you have set for this.

The 1st Colloquium in Honors counts for 6 credits in Classical Studies. Students who complete the 1st Colloquium may complete a minor or a secondary major in Classical Studies as follows:

  • Minor:  4 additional Classical Studies courses (12 credits); the choice of which 4 Classical Studies courses is up to the student
  • Major:  6 courses (18 credits) of Latin and/or Greek plus 4 additional Classical Studies courses (12 credits); the choice of which 4 Classical Studies courses is up to the student
