Catholic Studies

The arrangement described below was instituted in Fall 2019
and remained in place until the end of the 2023/2024 Academic Year.  During Fall 2024, this arrangement is under review.  If you began your undergraduate studies in Fall 2023 or earlier, the arrangement described below is an option for you.  If you began undergraduate studies in Fall 2024 or later, please consult with The Chair of the Dept. of Catholic Studies to ensure you are managing your course-planning in a way that will allow you to achieve your goals within the time frame you have set for this.

In most cases, students who have completed the 4 Honors Colloquia may obtain a secondary major in Catholic Studies (CAST) as follows:

  • complete five (3 credit) upper level CAST courses
  • complete the Integrating/Capstone Seminar in CAST.

Students wishing to pursue this option must contact the Dept. of Catholic Studies to discuss particulars. Typically, this should be done no later than 2nd semester of the sophomore year. After declaring the secondary major in Catholic Studies, a student must meet with the Catholic Studies chairperson each semester before registration to review progress and plan ahead for the successful completion of the CAST major.
