September 2016: Welcome Message from the Program Director

Welcome back! I hope that all of you had a relaxing and wonderful summer filled with fond memories. As record-breaking heat across the country moves out, we will soon enjoy the changing autumn leaves.

On behalf of the entire program’s faculty and staff, I welcome new and returning students to our graduate programs in Higher Education. As some of you know, I took a sabbatical leave last spring, working as a visiting associate professor in Korea. Upon my return to Seton Hall this fall, I’ve started my role as the program director. I would like to sincerely applaud Dr. Rong Chen for her leadership and collegiality as the immediate past program director, making our community more vibrant and welcoming for the past three years.

A Korean proverb says, “Starting is half the job.” In other words, to begin a matter is to have it already half-finished. This message is used to encourage someone to start a task, acknowledging that getting started is often hardest part. On the flip side, the task remains only half-finished if you do not put in the necessary effort. As the 2016-2017 academic year has just begun, I hope you will follow through on your goals and stay focused and motivated to see the other half done.

Sincerely,

Dr. Eunyoung Kim
