Barbara Blozen, Ed.D. ‘10, has been involved in the following publications and activities:

Monica Burnette, doctoral student, co-presented at the New Jersey Association of New Student Advocates annual conference in Atlantic City.  The presentation, entitled “Building an Effective Study Skills Curriculum for Struggling First-Year Students” demonstrated how campus departments collaborated to  redesign the curriculum and delivery method of a study skills course to improve student engagement and academic performance.

Stephen Deutsch recently defended his PhD dissertation entitled “The Relationship Between Adjunct Faculty Staffing and College Student Retention and Graduation.”  Dr. Chen mentored Stephen.

Colleen Evans, Ph.D. ‘13, was recently promoted from Instructor to Assistant Professor in Chemistry at Dominican College.  She is also co-Principal Investigator on a NSF STEM grant for low-income biology majors.  The grant ($600,000) provides four-year scholarships for two cohorts of students.  The project is entitled “Increasing Access to the Biological Sciences.”

Mary Fortier, Ed.D. ‘10, worked with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and several colleagues on an article-

Kelly Freeman, master’s student, presented “Collegiate Citizenship, Civic Engagement In a College Setting” at NJANSA (New Jersey Association of New Student Advocates) on October 23.

Ryan Hudes, doctoral candidate, recently accepted a position at Seton Hall’s new College of Communication and the Arts working in Admissions/Enrollment Management for its graduate programs.

Dr. Kelchen, Assistant Professor, has been involved in the following publications and activities:

  • Assumed faculty advisor role for Seton Hall’s HEGSA
  • Presented on college ranking and the Department of Education’s new College Scorecard tool at the National Association for College Admission Counseling Conference in San Diego
  • Signed a book contract with Johns Hopkins University Press on accountability policies and practices in higher education. Look for the book to come out in late 2017 or early 2018!

Aretha Watson, Ph.D. ‘15, recently accepted a position as the Assistant Dean for the School of Nursing at Rutgers University.
