December 2014: Message from the Director

A Message from the Director

Greetings students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends,

As the upcoming holiday approaches and 2014 nears its end, and as I complete my second year as the program director, I am proud of our various accomplishments over the past year. We have remained selective and our enrollments are robust in each of the higher education programs. During this year, we have also strengthened our doctoral programs, and are moving ahead with plans for new concentrations for our master’s program.

Our students continue to distinguish themselves by gaining visibility at national conferences and staying competitive in job markets. Our faculty also continue to achieve various accomplishments in the academic field, achieving honors including national and international recognitions, publications, grants, and awards. Our HEGSA (Higher Education Graduate Student Association) led with great effort in sharing all of the news, which brought us continued strength to move forward as a department. We are also appreciative of the invaluable support from our Dean, Department Chair, and our wonderful staff members. Thank you for all of the faithful support and effort in making this an extraordinary community.

While I will be on sabbatical during the Spring 2015 semester, I am glad to announce that Dr. Finkelstein will serve as Acting Program Director and take the lead throughout the semester.

Have a joyous holiday season and a productive new year.

-Rong Chen
