The Guggenheim Fellowship will be awarded to individuals who have already excelled in creativity in the arts or productive scholarship.

There will be two separateĀ competitions: one for citizens and permanent residents of the United States and Canada and one for citizens and permanent residents of Latin America and the Caribbean.

During the selection process, applicants’ work will be grouped with other applicants’ work in that same fieldĀ in order to be judged by experts in that field. So, artists will be judged by artists, scientists will be judged by scientist, historians but be judged by historians and so on.

Of the 3,000 applicants, 175 Fellowships will be awarded.

The winners for the United States/Canada competition are announced in early April and the winners for the Latin America/Caribbean competition are announced in early June.
