It takes a team to produce a successful proposal and to manage a successful grant. Our Grants Team includes professionals in the Divisions of Academic Affairs, University Advancement and Finance. The players are introduced below with a brief synopsis of their roles.

Michael LaFountaine,Ed.D., ATC, Director of Research, michael.lafountaine@shu.edu, x9334. As Director of Research in the Office of the Provost, Dr. LaFountaine oversees all aspects of externally sponsored research administration, including proposal generation, submission, post award management and compliance. Dr. LaFountaine is Seton Hall’s sole Authorized Organizational Representative for Federal grants. The Office of Grants and Research Services reports to Dr. LaFountaine. Any questions related to externally sponsored research may be directed to him.

Franklin K. Williams, MPA, Assistant Director of Grants and Research Services, franklin.williams@shu.edu, x2977. Mr. Williams oversees grant proposal preparation and submission through OGRS, including all Federal, governmental and some private grants. He manages the university’s accounts on the many governmental grant submission and management computer systems. He is the primary point of contact for initiating Federal and governmental proposals. Questions related to proposal preparation, required documentation, submission procedures and governmental grant management systems may be directed to him.

Steven Smith, Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, steven.smith5@shu.edu, x9815. Mr. Smith directs the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations (OCFR) in the Division of University Advancement, located in the George M. Ring Building. OCFR is the primary point of contact for building the relationships and preparing submissions for corporate and foundation gifts and sponsored programs. Questions related to grants or gifts from corporations or foundation may be directed to her.

Fahim Abedrabbo, MPA, Associate Director of Government and Community Relations, University Advancement, George M. Ring Building, fahim.abedrabbo@shu.edu, x9846.   Mr. Abedrabbo oversees relationship building, identifying sponsors and assists with proposal preparation for Federal submissions.  He manages the relationship with our external consultant, Winning Strategies Washington.  Questions related to identifying governmental sponsors, letters of support from legislators and accessing services from Winning Strategies Washington may be addressed to him.

Brenda Dunlop, Director of Grants, brenda.dunlop@shu.edu, x9324.  Ms. Dunlop directs the Office of Grant and Sponsored Accounting, Division of Finance, Bayley Hall.   Ms. Dunlop directs and manages fiscal aspects of post-award management.  She is responsible for ensuring that all grants are managed according to both the sponsor’s fiscal requirements and University policy.  Questions related to post-award financial polices, expenses and budgets may be directed to her.
