Colleagues,

The Governor’s STEM Scholars Program is now accepting applications for its 2017 class until Friday, May 27, 2016.  The program is a public-private partnership for students interested in STEM from grades 10 through the Ph.D. level.  Participants gain a comprehensive introduction to the state’s STEM economy through a series of conferences, field trips, internships, and a research project.  Founded in 2013, The Governor’s STEM Scholars Program is an initiative of the Research & Development Council of New Jersey, the Governor’s Office, the New Jersey Department of Education, and Secretary of Higher Education aimed at promoting STEM education and workforce development in the state.

Over the course of the academic year, the program provides a merit-based comprehensive introduction to New Jersey’s STEM economy to the state’s best and brightest high school, college, and graduate students through a series of conferences, field trips, a research project, and professional opportunities. The program offers scholars mentoring opportunities and enables them to make personal and professional connections that can last throughout their academic and professional careers.  More information on the program can be found at www.govstemscholars.org or see the attachments for additional details.

I urge you to disseminate the applications as soon as possible to give your students the best chance of gaining admittance to this competitive, worthwhile program.
