Clemson University and CNBC are partnering with Securing America’s Future Energy (SAFE), which is in its second year of offering the SAFE Energy Securing Prize. The Prize is designed to support the critical efforts of researchers whose ingenuity, leadership and perseverance are poised to advance American energy security by helping bring an end to U.S. oil dependence.

The winner of the 2015 SAFE Energy Security Prize will receive a $125,000 cash reward, powered by the InterTech Group. The prize is being awarded in memory of the company’s founder, president and CEO, Jerry Zucker. Throughout his life, Mr. Zucker showed an enormous interest in- and talent for- all things science and technology. An engineer with impressive business acumen, Mr. Zucker’s creativity , love of people and drive for excellence inspires us to recognize and foster the next generation of game changers.
