NSF’s Law and Social Sciences program funds interdisciplinary and multi-methodological studies of law and law-like systems of rules. Proposals can include, but are not limited to:

  • Crime, violence and punishment
  • Role of the law on the economy
  • Governance
  • Legal decision making
  • Legal mobilization and conceptions of justice
  • Litigation and legal professions

Types of funding include research grants, interdisciplinary postdoctoral fellowships, doctoral dissertation research improvement grants and conference/workshop awards. Proposals are due annually on January 15 and July 15. For more information, see the link below:
