This joint National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute program stimulates research that evaluates the effect of care planning on cancer survivors’ health and psychosocial outcomes. Research should specifically:
- Develop and test metrics for evaluating the impact of survivorship care planning
- Identify the impact of survivorship care planning on cancer survivors’ morbidity, self-management, adherence to care recommendations, utilization of follow-up care and on systems outcomes
- Identify models and processes of care that promote effective survivorship care planning
