This NEA program offers various awards for projects that contribute to the livability and beautification of communities. Proposals must include a partnership with an arts organization and local government entity. Supported projects include arts engagement, cultural planning and design, with descriptions of the categories as follows:
- Arts engagement: Public arts, festivals and performances and interactive programming that fosters cultural and community assets
- Cultural planning: Creative asset mapping, cultural district planning, creating community wide strategies for public arts and support for creative entrepreneurship
- Design: Designing, studios, cultural spaces, public spaces, community engagement activities or housing for artists.
